Lighting

Adding lighting to glass panels and forms illustrates the depth of the pattern within the piece and can bring out features that would otherwise be hidden.

It also brings out the colour!

Bubbles included in the glass during the fusing process add extra life and interest

By varying thickness, you can play with the intensity of colour. (The background of this panel is all the same colour)

All my pieces incorporate low energy 12V LED lighting strips, mounted on aluminium heatsinks for longevity, to give an even distribution of light across the glass.

In the case of curved panels like this one, the light source is made to match the curvature of the panel.

Most of the designs incorporate acrylic diffusers to provide an even spread of light instead of point sources, but in some cases like this one the diffusers are left off, to make the glass really sparkle.

(NB - Lit panels are really hard to do justice to in photographs, and this is a particularly tricky example - much better to see in real life!)

The LED colour temperature used to light each panel is selected to complement the piece, but this can be changed if the setting of the light requires a warmer or cooler temperature than shown.
